This time we bring you new information so that you can enjoy our blog and also learn about the fascinating world of footwear. There are many types of footwear in the world, in this article we will show you the main models and the characteristics that define them, in a future article we will talk about those types of footwear that we have left out.
Boot or Ankle Boot footwear models.
Boots and ankle boots are a classic type of footwear. The first boots we have evidence of date back 15,000 years and their initial function was to protect, although in ancient times they were already profusely decorated for a purely aesthetic purpose. Boots were exclusively a male shoe until the beginning of the 19th century, when they also began to be worn by women. From this date on, boots and ankle boots began to be manufactured specifically for women.
There are countless models of boots, almost as many as there are tastes and people. And of course the “camperos” boots, which date back to the 14th century and were used by farmers for farm work. Since then, they have been manufactured by hand, a tradition that has been fairly well preserved, although they are also mass-produced today.
Moccasin footwear models.
This type of footwear is also widely used today and its origin comes from the indigenous peoples of North America, who made them by hand from leather to help protect them from the cold and bad weather. With the passage of time and the arrival of the first Europeans, their use began to spread throughout the world, using the original idea but significantly improving its finish. It is footwear used mainly by men, but we can also find versions for use by the female public.
The design of the Moccasin is essentially very simple, as it lacks fastening elements such as laces or straps. It is made in a single piece to which a piece called a “crest” is added in the instep area and which is in turn completed with leather decorations or with decorative metal pieces in the instep area.
Oxford or English shoe models
This type of shoe is originally from Scotland and Ireland, but its name “Oxford” or English is due to the fact that this model became popular among students of this university back in the 19th century. It is a very elegant model that was originally also designed for men, but as with other shoe models it ended up being used by women, who today have versions exclusively intended for use by the female gender.
In the next article on our blog we will continue to show other shoe models that exist in the world.
